I have been to Vietnam a few times in succession as I am trying to save the days for Thailand so I can go there and use them in a lump now that the Thais are strickly enforceing the 90 in 180 visa rules.

Vietnam is a little frustrating as they will only give you a 15 day visa if you apply at the border. if you are on a flight you have to have the visa before you go. If you want a long stay or need a multi entrance it takes a minuimum of 3 days and can take all the way up to a week for the 6 month visas.

I needed to catch a flight to Hong Kong last minite so i had to stay in Hong Kong for 4 days on the return to get a visa. or send my visa in the mail to a embassy in the USA I just wasn't real comfortable with that.

Some of the Vietnam Embassies and cousoler offices will make a photo from your passport, others will not, so make sure to include 2 in your application. Something I allways recomend is to papeclip a few into your passport so that you have them. I get 40 pictures at a time and I still run out scary that that many people want to look at my mug shot.
