Cheapest rental cars in Chicago USA

I normally when I travel don't rent cars except when I am in the USA. I recently took the cheapest flight in Asia to Chicago I could find as the trip was unscheduled and last minute, so I rented a car for a week. Enterprise was the cheapest Chicago car rental that I could find; look in the yellow pages search under Auto rental.

Enterprise has little offices all over Chicago if you want to rent a car you call them up at the nearest office to where you are and they come and pick you up for free. a couple of things to remember though is that they are closed after noon on Saturday so if you are going to drop on Sat night or Sunday you are going to pay until Monday.

If you drop the car at the airport they charge a $50 drop fee unless I believe you rent the car from the airport.

If you rent at O'Hare airport in Chicago you will get a much larger selection of cars. for me it worked out that I got upgraded as they did not have the car that I had reserved which worked out good as I needed to pick my sister her husband and mountains of luggage for a 4 day trip!

When scheduling to rent a car it is cheaper to get a weekly rate for 4 to 7 days than to rent the car for 3 days at the daily rate.

on the trip I also rented a cheap car in Hawaii and it was 40% cheaper than Chicago go figure where everything in Hawaii is expensive the car rentals were cheaper by far for the exact same car!

Be sure to mention all the organizations that you participate in as they have group discounts that can save you 5% or more which is pocket folding money savings something that we like a lot here at Cheap Charlies
