Cambodia’s Mock US Election.
Cambodia’s Mock US Election.
A group of high schools students today joined in a mock election with the Democrats Abroad in Cambodia. Approximately 56 students and a couple of teachers voted for their choice for Democratic Presidential nominee. The voting was done to give the students an idea of how actual primary voting would be done in the USA. Cambodia this year will also have elections, so for the students they will get to see first hand how the two different systems work.
The vote was organized also to fine tune the process that will be used on Saturday Feb 9th as part of the Democrats global primary. The global primaries will result in seating 22 delegates at the Democratic National convention representing 11 actual votes for the candidates. This is the first time that Democrats will be allowed to vote online or in global primary’s. The Republicans do not have any way to vote except to mail in absentee ballots, which the democrats have the ability to do as well. Many though think that that the absentee voter process forces people to vote before all the campaigning is done, in order to get the votes in on time to qualify to be counted.
The results were not surprising 70% of the students voted for Barack Obamba and 27% voted for Hilary Clinton with one vote being cast for Joe Biden
