Vegas Cheapest Travel
Anyone that has followed this Cheap Charley knows that I love to take trains as a cheap travel option. I just made a mistake and I did not realize it until I left I had a choice of taking from Aspen Colorado to LA CA via Vegas the bus a cheap flight or the Amtrak train form Glenwood springs to LA. What I forgot to do is to look and see how much it would be to compare the difference between the greyhound bus and the Amtrak. I don't always shop for the cheapest travel based on price. I like to also look at comfort and don't have a problem paying more to get a good experience. Most of the Cheap Charlies train trips that I have taken some of the more memorable ones were the train trip to Tibet from Xian China as well as the runs that I have taken in Thailand. In Vietnam & Burma the trains were older and not as comfortable but compared to the other types of travel in Vietnam and Burma they were the more comfortable option.
it seems that the cost of trains planes and buses that the trains are the best budget travel option if one takes the overnight sleepers. I wanted to stay in Vegas but I could have done that still by taking the train and the numbers have would have still borne out.
Greyhound was a horrible experience the buses were fairly full most of the time and the ride was uncomfortable as the buses were so cramped. If one didn't know one would guess that one was in Asia as the seats were so close to one another. The thing about the US is that it is so large and there are many areas that are very far from airports or because the airports are so far removed they charge a premium to fly out of them for instance to fly from Aspen to LA you can make the same flight cheaper to fly from Chicago to LA on the exact same type of airplane.
