The AA Hotel allways comes to mind first for Pattaya it is certainly not the nicest nor the cheapest the service isn't all that good either but I love the pool the view over the Pattaya bay is awsome. We also like the cheap hotel rate which gives you 3 star ammenities at 1 or 2 star prices refrigerator mini bar big comfortable beds reallly quiet rooms but right in the middle of the action close to walking street witht he beach right accros the street. If you are looking to stay fro a while or on a real tight budget your best bet for accomodations is to go back from the beach in Pattaya or go over and look in Jontiem I have found some good comfortable guesthouses for long stays that were very cheap compared to Bangkok or Phuket for the quality of the guesthouse Ice Inn is a little hidden jewel near the Montien- Hard Rock in middle Pattaya

We found Maxs guesthouse on the internet after a long search for something reasonable and when we got there to Phuket we had to seach again to find the guesthouse but we were very happy when we got to max's Very well run the staff and owner are all very helpful and friendly big airy rooms big beds hot water air con Cable TV and you can get long stay rates when he has rooms open. this a popular place with the expats for all the above reasons.
