One of the things that make a vacation one of the best is staying in a great hotel. Even if you are in a heavenly city or town, but stay in a hellish inn, your entire stay at the heavenly city can be ruined. Hotel Durant is one of the most popular places to stay in Aspen Colorado for its excellent service and comfortable ambiance.
This family-owned hotel is small, quiet, and intimate. It gives off a European hunting lodge feel. This hotel is located in 122 East Durant Avenue. It is just 1 block away from a ski-lift and 3 blocks away from downtown Aspen and the gondola. This means that the Wheeler Opera House, Aspen Art Museum, Harris Concert Hall, shops, and restaurants are just a few minutes’ walk away. Furthermore, the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority that provides bus service around Aspen, to Snowmass, Buttermilk, and Highland come directly to Hotel Durant.
The lobby holds the reception, where complementary wine, cheese, and cookies are available during the ski seasons. The lobby is also where people can gather in front of the fireplace, possibly to meet other hotel occupants. There is an open-air patio which is filled with flowers in summer and holds an outdoor hot tub for relaxation from a day of skiing in winter.
This hotel has 4 floors but, unfortunately, has no elevators. There are 19 rooms for the hotel’s guests. The rooms come in 4 types: Lodge, Balcony, Mini Suite, and Fireplace suite. The Lodge room has either a queen bed or double beds and is the most affordable among the 4 room types. In fact, it always costs 10 to 30 USD less than the other rooms, which are priced the same. 5 of the 19 rooms are the Balcony-type rooms which, obviously, have balconies. There are 2 Mini Suites with an extra pull out bed good for one, and an Italian sitting area. The Fireplace Suite has a sofa that can be pulled out to become a bed that is good for one, and a sitting area with a fireplace, of course. All rooms have cable television, a telephone, and its own baths. Except for the Lodge room, all the others have a queen-sized bed, a refrigerator, and a microwave oven. Everyone staying at the hotel also gets free continental breakfast.
Check in is at 2PM, while check out is at 11 AM. The room fees, which can be paid via credit card, are good for two people. The rooms are most expensive from Christmas to New Year and cheapest in spring.

Located just outside the downtown core, 3 blocks to the Gondola less to Ruby Park for free skier shuttles and you can walk everywhere else in Aspen including all of the great restaurants on the West Side of Aspen like Jimmys, Rustique And Pitkin County Steak House and it is really quiet even on busy weekend nights, so you can get a great nights sleep, when you put your head to these extremly comfortable beds.
