I love staying in hotels as much as travelling. In fact, it’s one of things I look forward to whenever I take a trip whether it is for business or for pleasure. In my last trip, I went to Aspen Colorado for a week-long work-related seminar. As expected, the first thing I asked about was where we were going to be billeted. Hotel Jerome. I said to myself, “Oh, was not that the hotel that was supposedly closed for auction?” Actually, I was a little bit disappointed when they told me where were going to be for the whole duration of the seminar. I’ve seen Hotel Jerome from the outside. The hotel appearance did not really impress me that much. Plus, I looked at their website and browsed through the website’s photo gallery. Although the pictures taken from the hotel were nice, they were too dark and stuffy for me. . Don’t get me wrong. I love old world. I just like it light and airy and not brooding. It also does not help to know that this centuries old hotel is set to be closed for operations for whatever reasons. In my mind, amenities and service might be on the downhill since it is going to close anyway. Luckily, I was proven wrong.
First, the size of my junior suite was not junior at all. It was bigger than that. The furniture that I thought were old and stuffy were indeed old, but not stuffy at all. I am not really a fan of antique furniture (my house is all Zen from furniture to wall treatment) but I was impressed with the quality of everything in my room. I did not want to leave the room! The bathroom was also very luxurious. The lights on the mirror (like a superstar, lol!), expensive marble sink tops, towels and robes that were very soft and fluffy, the expensive smell and feel of their toiletries, and the huge bathtub (you could bring the bed cover and pillows and sleep in there!). Suffice to say, the accommodations were a complete turn-around for me.
Before going to Aspen, I read the reviews on Hotel Jerome. The reviews were quite low for in as far as the hotel stuff goes. I was psyched up to have the same kind of sloppy, snooty, and unpredictable service. Again, I was proven wrong. Where’s the bellhop with an attitude and late house keeping service that they were talking about?! The bellhop was quick and friendly, the house keeping was not unpredictable, and the rest of the hotel stuff was welcoming and helpful.
Would I go back there? Most definitely! Would I recommend it to friends and colleagues? I already did lol! I’m going back with friends to Aspen to ski and we all have booked our weekend with Hotel Jerome. Need I say more?

Located on the fringe of the downtown core, 3 blocks to the Gondola less to Ruby Park for free skier shuttles and you can walk everywhere else in Aspen including all of the great restaurants on the West Side of Aspen like Jimmys, Rustique And Pitkin County Steak House .
