I was a bit apprehensive at first coming into China What would a 2 star or 3 star cheap hotel really be like? Surprisingly they were what you would expect, the rooms in Cheap Hotels in Beijing, were similar to what you would get in Singapore or Bangkok . Something interesting we found was like allot of things in China the government has something to do with this, as the hotels will have a plaques on the wall that will show the number of stars and using this as a guide we were not disappointed as it is a real designation so if you are approaching a hotel or Beijing cheap guesthouses don't be afraid to ask them what the star rating of the hotel is.

Quiamen Hotel Located at the south end of the Forbidden City it is within walking distance to allot of the things that you will want to two see in Beijing. The staff at this hotel were very friendly and helpful and the general area around this Beijing Hotel is nice Of course walking out of the hotel and being at a gate house for the forbidden city will amaze you and that the room was only $20 in the off season was a reason to be happy as well Oct to April 1 be sure to get this discount. for the beijing Olympics I am sure this Beijing hotel will be in demand so make your reservations early.
The Sheng Qi is right around the corner from the Quan Qi just off Qiamnen street this one is interesting as they have a dome over the hotel with restaurants and a bar in side this one is even closer to the Metro and the buses and is walking distance to Tianman Square. The rooms are around $25 a night.
