The Temples of Bagon will be a highlight of your trip even if you are going around the world. The idea of having thousands of temples in one very small area is just awe ispiring. The Bagon plain is around 40 KM square and there is no way that you are going to see all of the temples unles you are willing to give up a piece of your life. We found as we had found in Angkor Wat that we started to get Stupaified with the temples after 3 days As we did in Angkor Wat in Cambodia.Yawn another temple being the culture vultures that we are. We did the hard stuf in the morning and kept the afternoon to cruising around in a small area keeping one day for the pool of course. The heat will get to you. In Bagon we rode bike walked taxis and horse drawn cart we were tempted to the grandslam and do the balloons. Some of the bakeware places in Old Bagon keep the good stuff in the back in aircon rooms. No Cameras you concept thieving pagans!.
The area of Bagon has 3 seperate places where you can find hotels. Old Bagon, New Bagon and Nyaung U. We stayed in New Bagon as we are cheap charlies but the really cheap stuff is in Nyang U. Old Bagon has the really expensive stuff and some of it is very nice the two that stood out were the Bagon hotel and Bagon Thande. The bagon hotel gets kudoes as we asked for a PR pac and they through in some candy that Unkle used mercilessly to tease the kids and
