Koala Besut Malaysia
Hotels, Guesthouses, Boats, Taxis and Trains

Koala Besut main reason for being is to support the Perhentian Islands all of the food and supplies as well as all the tourists that have to travel through Kuala Besut to get there. A quiet town that has some very friendly residents that are very willing to help you what ever your needs.

Koala Besut has just 3 hotels, which is really 2 hotels and a guesthouse. The nicest of the hotels is the Samudera which has ocean views and is 1.5 short blocks from the pier and only half a block from the bus station. The Nan Hotel is a cheap hotel that has around 20 rooms run by a very devote Muslim family. and the Yaudin guesthouses which you guessed it would be the guesthouse which has really basic cheap rooms for 20Rm a night which is around 7USD the town closes up pretty much at night the only internet shop closes at 5 PM which was a shock to your truly.
The cost of a water taxi to the Perhentian islands is 6oRM for a round trip which is the way that you want to buy it or you will pay 10 RM more also the tour companies and travel agencies don't tell you that you need to pay the transfer boat 2 RM in each direction. the bus to Kuala Lumpur is 30 RM and you have two choices 8:30 am or 8:30 PM. You can also get transfers to Tamen Negra a taxi to the Thai border will run 60RM and a taxi to Kota Baru will cost you 30RM and a little more if you want the taxi to take you to the train station. There is a way to take local buses to the Kota Baru and to the train station but I didn't get the details but it can be done and will save you a lot of money but as is always the case cost you a little time one more note for boats at night you will pay double the fare. if you figure it out please put it on the cheap charlies blog as well as any other useful information that you think will help fellow Asia travelers.
