The cheapest flights between Bangkok and Manila are very expensive compared to most of the other major Asia capitols, I found it hard to find discount airfares under $300 from Bangkok to Manila. When you are looking also look at KL to Manila or Singapore to Manila and then you can get a flight from to Bangkok to KL or Singapore and possibly save some money. A new choice that on a map makes more sense is to fly Bangkok to Saigon and then on to Manila Cebu Pacific just put a new route in and that can be as cheap as $220 however you also need to factor in the steep visa fees for Vietnam and the difuculty of getting multi entry visa and they will not let you have to valid passports in your passport.
You should also consider flying into Clark Airbase in Angeles city you can then either get a taxi or a bus into Manila.
The flights that I took was Air Asia from Bangkok to Singapore and then I took Tiger Air to Angeles City. I then took a bus that I caught just outside of the Angeles City airport which you have to take a taxi too and I might add that it is a rip off but there is nothing you can do about it as it is way to far to walk. Having a hotel pick you up is a good idea Margarita Station website where you can make reservations for Angeles City Hotels and arrange pick up from the Clark Airbase.
I found this cheap airfare on Sidestep they referred me over to the Asian Air site to book the flight and the process was straight forward and easy to do and it took just a couple of minutes to do with out being stopped 50 times for stupid questions or comment like you get on most airline reservation systems.

Check out Kayak, Mobissimo and FareChase for some of the cheapest international airfares .FareCast and FareCompare can and should be used as well they are very good at identifying the range for the flights and which carriers have the best flight deals for your reservation destination.. I also always look at the regional budget air carriers like Jet Star Asia, Tiger Air and Air Asia to see if I can build a trip using only the discount carriers.
If you need to fly in Aisa then check out Air Asia which is offending some very cheap flights especially if you are gong to the main Asia air hubs of Bangkok Singapore Kuala Lumpur if you need cheap flights in Australia check out Virgin Airlines it worked out to be allot cheap that any other type of discount airfares or travel that I could find,
