Pattaya is the place to find Guesthouses & Cheap hotels in Thailand & Many of the tourists that come to Pattaya come to stay for months at a time, as oposed to weeks for the majority of travlers to Thailand so there are many guesthouses Pattaya rooms and hotels to cater to them, many of these accomodations in Pattaya are on the back streets off the ocean. a New cheap Charlies Pick is Fawlty Towers located on Pattaya Street 2 Soi 10 We like the way that the owner does bisiness the rooms are very clean and the amenities are just what you want for a cheap guesthouse in Pattaya Air Con Hot water cable TV with all the western stations refridgerator that is well stocked located on a quiet soi he even offers great rates for long stays a good rule of thumb is if they are busy and the majority of their custoers are repeat bisiness and they are willing to go the the extra mile to help you with stuff that they don't get paid on then Fawlty Towres rings all the bells and they have one of the friendlist cats in Pattaya allways a good sign.  Reservations allways recomended here espically in the high season.

A good rule of thumb is the closer to the beach the more expensive and to find the cheap guesthouses for long stay ussualy are located further back from the beach. With the current economic situation Thailand is loosing the visas that are obtained outside of Thailand you can get a 60 day visa to Thailand for free as a promotion.

Pattaya has a few different areas Jontiem is on the other side of the hill the Walking Street area of Pattaya City, central Pattaya Jontiem is starting to see some high end luxury stuff bt still has a lot of the cheaper hotels.  Pattaya City has some rooms but Central Pattaya is where you are going to find the highest concentration of cheap hotels guesthouses and restaurants.

One of our favorites that is almost a Cheap Charlies pick is the Pattaya AA Hotel the main features we like are the pool on the 4th floor with great views of the ocean. We also like the location in the mix but the hotel is still quiet at night.  We like the price durring the high season we paid 850 baht wth air con hot water refridgerator and a king size bed that was very comfortable they could do a couple of things that would raise them to a Cheap Charlies pick the first thing is put smiles on the staff and put real cable on the TV 2 channels of English programming isn't enough.

Expect to pay more close to the beach and for locations close to walking street you will pay more for the privilage of massive throngs of people watchers actally this is quite alot of fun and you can catch some Thai Kick boxing at some of the bars, a great time to be had if there are US Navy boats in town.
